IDCC HR Network - India's new labour laws

IDCC HR Network - India's new labour laws

Agenda

1. What has been changed - and why?

2. What are the implications for employers?

3. When will the laws be implemented and how can employers prepare?

The Indian parliament has passed 4 new labour codes which codify and consolidate the current 29 central labour legislations.

The 4 codes intend to:

• Establish a universal definition of wage and simplify the minimum wage fixing process.

• Consolidate laws related to trade unions, industrial disputes and standing orders.

• Ensure comprehensive social security coverage for all workers, including those in the informal sector.

• Consolidate laws relating to occupational safety, health, and working conditions.

In this session we will get a better understanding of the complexities of each code by diving into the details, followed by an informal discussion on what the implications are and share best practices of those who have already prepared for the implementation of the law.
