Frugal Innovation or Product Adaptation

Frugal Innovation or Product Adaptation: Some lessons around developing solutions for India

While providing huge scale, the Indian market is known to be a price sensitive one. Products and solutions designed for developed markets, may therefore be more difficult to sell in India.

As such, many companies are looking to adapt products to India's specific market conditions, be it socioeconomic, cultural, or even political conditions.

This session is the second installment of our focus on frugal innovation and product adaptation. We bring in specific case stories and use those to enable fruitful discussions on how to approach the Indian market.

This time we will be introduced to a few case stories about local solution adaptation. Drawing on his experiences from Novozymes and FOSS companies, Sabarinath Karoor will present his learnings, covering also what not to do when developing and customizing solutions for India - and other emerging markets.

The cases will cover a variety of industries, from detergents to breads, to peanut and cattle feed.
