Experience sharing with peers

In a 2023 Deloitte report, India emerged as the most preferred location for Shared Services, followed by Poland and Mexico.

Part of why India is doing so well is the access to talent. However, with the success and the rising number of SSCs in the country comes a stiffer competition for said talent and challenges of congestion in cities such as Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.

In that light, we see new hubs having emerged, such as Hyderabad and Pune, which also reflect the post-covid reluctance of talent to commute or even relocate for work.

New trends are emerging and so are the considerations to be made when setting up a SSC in India.

Mr. Bharat Lal has been a close advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi since he was Chief Minister in the state of Gujarat. He currently holds the position as Secretary General for India's National Human Rights Commission but has simultaneously been tasked with drafting the government's strategy plan for the next five years.

The job market in India is tough - and many are struggling with both recruitment and attrition. While compensation remains the top-deciding factor amongst candidates, recent studies show a significant increase in the focus on ‘softer’ criteria, such as purpose, meaningfulness, supportive leadership, DE&I policies, work-life balance and more.
